ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

17 November 2014 - 28 November 2014

Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad

Curator by Noman Ammouri

Paving a route through the constant negotiation between the real, the factual and the spanning yarns of the system she concerned with the representation of women in visual culture. She has the soul of an animator tied to the plight for justice, a truth seeker and researcher with a specific feminist tendency that allows facts to happen where they exist. Her engrossing works allow the fear and the loss of feminine voice of socially threatened minorities in India where she reinstated within a national realism which consistently remains at stake. Soghra’s choice with multidisciplinary approach uses printmaking with enigmatic touch through woodcuts, etchings, digital prints, and new media. Her site specific installation uses cloth and wire mesh, and of red colour, mines its symbolic potential for emotional responses.
